Work experience in the Canadian work experience program
You must have at least 12 months of work experience in Canada. At least 12 months is equivalent to 1,560 hours.
You must have acquired this work experience at most 3 years before applying. Also, this work must be full-time or part-time equivalent. One year of work experience can be full-time in one or more jobs or part-time in several jobs.

What work experience is required for the Canadian Experience Program?

In the program to immigrate to Canada through Canadian experience, it does not matter what job the applicant had. Therefore, you can apply for this program by having any job, and it is only important that this job is at one of the TEER levels 0, 1, 2, 3 in the Canadian NOC job list. Of course, it should be noted that this job must be an employee and self-employment experience is not counted in this program.

Does the work experience along with studying in Canada count in the Canadian Experience Program?

Unfortunately, the answer to this question is no. Work experience combined with full-time study in Canada is not beneficial for Canadian residency through Canadian experience. If you are studying in Canada, you must finish high school and one year of work experience will be counted after completing your studies.

Note that you must have a legal work permit to work in Canada. For example, if you are a refugee, your work history is not acceptable for this program.

Step 1: Create a profile

To obtain Canadian residency through the Canadian Experience, you must first create an Express Entry profile. In order to create a profile, you must have a language certificate and a certificate of educational qualification evaluation (if you studied outside of Canada) in order to enter the relevant information. Of course, if you have studied in Canada, you do not need an evaluation certificate.

A profile must be created on the website of the Canadian Immigration Department through the GCKey system. When creating a profile, it is necessary to enter basic information related to work experience and job title, information related to education and degree evaluation certificate, personal information and financial ability.

Second step: earn points

Based on various factors such as age, work experience, language knowledge, education, etc. Your case will be scored. This scoring system, which is specific to the Express Entry system, is called Comprehensive Ranking System or CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System). Your score is between 0 and 1200.

What is the pool of applicants in the immigration to Canada method with Canadian experience?

The score calculated in your immigration file goes into a virtual pool. In this virtual pool, which is called pool, there are files of people with different privileges and conditions. Your case in this pool is like a fish to be cast into the net by the fisherman (immigration department).

A lottery is usually held twice a month, which is called a draw. In these lotteries, the federal government selects people with the desired score from the pool and issues them an Invitation to Apply. Therefore, the selection method is competitive, not random. The higher the score, the higher the chance of receiving an invitation.

If your score is below the score level selected by the immigration office, you must wait in the applicant pool until the score level is lowered.

What points are suitable for immigrating to Canada through the Canadian Experience?

The points will change in each draw held. Therefore, it is not possible to say exactly what score is suitable for this program. For example, the score of this program in 2021 varied between 75 and 462.

Step 3: Submit the request

After receiving the invitation, you can upload the required documents to your profile and complete the requested information within 60 days. Then at the end you have to pay the fees and register your application

The cost of the right to issue permanent residence

The cost of fingerprinting85 Canadian dollarsIf the applicant has a spouse and children, 170 Canadian dollars for the entire family (applicant and spouse and children)

One day (24 hours) after registering the application, a letter called Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) will be sent to you. This receipt indicates that your documents have been received by the Immigration Department and the application has been successfully filed.

Fourth step: fingerprinting

At this stage of immigrating to Canada with Canadian experience, the case review begins. Throughout the process, you can refer to your profile and see the status of your case.

The officer checks the case to ensure that the documents are complete and according to the checklist of the program. If the documents are incomplete, the officer will refund the fee for checking the documents as well as the application.

This stage is usually done between 1 and 2 months. At the end of this stage, the medical examination letter is usually confirmed and a fingerprint letter is also issued.

Persons who need to be fingerprinted according to Canadian laws must go to visa offices in other countries and do fingerprinting after receiving the fingerprinting letter.

Fifth step: Eligibility check

In the Eligibility Review process, all the documents are checked to confirm whether you are eligible or not. This process in obtaining a Canadian visa through the Canadian experience is long in terms of time, because the file and its documents are checked in terms of validity and accuracy and having the conditions of the desired program.

Usually, this stage ends up to 5 months after the previous stage. In this process, various documents, such as a letter of financial ability, a letter of work history, a letter of job offer, a history of visa rejection, etc., are examined.

If the officer feels that further investigation is needed, he may ask you for additional documents.

Sixth step: checking the records

The background check stage consists of three sections: criminality, security and information sharing. All parts of this stage are carried out by the Canadian Immigration Service, the Canada Border Services Agency and the Canadian Security Intelligence Agency.

The duration of this stage is usually between 1 and 2. But in some rare cases, when a person’s records are suspicious in the opinion of the relevant department, it may take up to 1 year.

This stage is the last stage before announcing the final decision.

Final step: confirmation of permanent residence

Finally, after the approval of the case, you will receive the Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). At this stage, you will receive a passport request message (PPR) and you must send your passport to the Canadian visa office in the nearest place of residence to register the visa. The period of time a person is allowed to enter Canada is until the validity of the passport or the expiration of the validity of the medical examinations (whichever expires first).
