Steps to work immigration to Nova Scotia
The steps and method of action are different for subgroups aligned with Express Entry and subgroups not related to Express Entry. Therefore, the steps and methods are mentioned separately for each one. To obtain permanent residence through the Nova Scotia provincial program, you must go through the following steps.
Step 1: Submit an application to the province of Nova Scotia and get a provincial nomination
In subgroups aligned with Express Entry, you must first create an Express Entry profile on the GCKey site. To create an express entry profile, you need to enter information about your work experience, language degree, education and personal information.
After creating an Express Entry profile, your case will enter a pool. There are cases of people with different privileges and conditions. Your case in this pool is like a fish to be cast into the net by the fisherman (Nova Scotia Immigration).
Depending on the needs of the province of Nova Scotia, a lottery is held every so often, which is called a draw. In these lotteries, the Nova Scotia government selects people with the desired conditions from the pool and issues them a Letter of Interest.
Then you have 30 days to create an account on the website of the province of Nova Scotia and then enter your information and register your request. The province of Nova Scotia will issue you a provincial nomination after reviewing the conditions, between 3 and 6 months later.
In subcategories not related to Express Entry, you must create an account on the Province of Nova Scotia website, then enter your information and submit your application. The province of Nova Scotia will issue you a provincial nomination after reviewing the conditions, between 3 and 6 months later.
Step 2: Submit an application to the Federal Immigration Service and obtain permanent residence
In the subgroups aligned with Express Entry, you must accept this nomination in your Express Entry profile no later than 30 days after receiving the provincial nomination. Then the province’s express entry lottery will be held and an invitation will be issued to you. You then have 60 days to upload all the relevant documents to your Express Entry profile and enter the additional information requested, pay the fee and submit your permanent residence application.
Then the Federal Immigration Department will review your documents and information in about 6 to 9 months. In this review, your security and criminal record will also be checked. Then, if approved, the permanent residence confirmation will be sent to you.
In subcategories not related to Express Entry, you have 6 months after receiving a provincial nomination to send your application to the Federal Immigration Service. You can apply in two ways:
1. You can submit your application online by creating a profile on the permanent residence online portal.
In this scanning profile, you have to upload all the documents, pay the fee and complete the forms digitally in the same profile.
2. You can prepare your documents on paper, pay the fee and mail them.
Then the Federal Immigration Department will review your documents and information in about 6 to 9 months. In this review, your security and criminal record will also be checked. Then, if approved, the permanent residence confirmation will be sent to you.
